More than 17 million people are facing dire food shortages in Yemen, as Oman seeks to mediate a peace deal

Global Research, May 31, 2017
Middle East Eye 30 May 2017

Yemen is descending into total collapse, its people facing war, famine and a deadly outbreak of cholera, as the world watches, the UN aid chief said on Tuesday.

Speaking to the UN Security Council, Stephen O’Brien said

“the time is now” to end the world’s largest food emergency and put Yemen back on the path to survival.

“Crisis is not coming, it is not looming, it is here today – on our watch and ordinary people are paying the price,” said O’Brien, the UN undersecretary general for humanitarian affairs.

“The people of Yemen are being subjected to deprivation, disease and death as the world watches.”

The crisis is spiraling towards “total social, economic and institutional…

America’s Imperial War Drive and the Contemporary African Crisis

Counter Information

From the Cameroon and Somalia to South Africa and Zimbabwe neo-colonialism remains a major impediment to genuine development and stability

Global Research, April 24, 2017

Any reasonable observer of the United States ruling class discourse during April 2017 realizes that the imperialist war drive is still a dominant theme.

Many people were quite skeptical if not disbelieving of the campaign rhetoric of current President Donald J. Trump when he hinted at lessening tensions with the Russian Federation over the wars in Syria and eastern Ukraine. These decisions to embark upon a militarist approach to foreign policy is well entrenched in history.

After all the indigenous Native peoples were driven off their lands and systematic genocide remain the order of the day in light of the situation at Standing Rock as a stark example. Of course African people having been kidnapped into slavery and super-exploited for two-and-a-half centuries…

REALPOLITIK: When You Kill Ten Million Africans – They Don’t Call You ‘Hitler’, They Call You ‘King’ (Archive)

RIELPOLITIK

Source  – wakingtimes.com, By Liam O’Ceallaigh

–  Take a look at this picture. Do you know who it is?

ENG-Leopold_232661a

Most people haven’t heard of him.

But you should have. When you see his face or hear his name you should get as sick in your stomach as when you read about Mussolini or Hitler or see one of their pictures. You see, he killed over 10 million people in the Congo.

His name is King Leopold II of Belgium.

He “owned” the Congo during his reign as the constitutional monarch of Belgium. After several failed colonial attempts in Asia and Africa, he settled on the Congo. He “bought” it and enslaved its people, turning the entire country into his own personal slave plantation. He disguised his business transactions as “philanthropic” and “scientific” efforts under the banner of the International African Society. He used their enslaved labor to extract Congolese resources…

History: How African Muslims “Civilized Spain”

Counter Information

Global Research, April 08, 2017

Today marks the anniversary of the end of nearly 700 years of African Muslim rule over Spain, Portugal and Southern France.

Four hundred and eight years ago today King Phillip III of Spain signed an order, which was one of the earliest examples of ethnic cleansing. At the height of the Spanish inquisition, King Phillip III ordered the expulsion of 300,000 Muslim Moriscos, which initiated one of the most brutal and tragic episodes in the history of Spain.

Contrary to conventional wisdom, it was ancient Africans that brought civilization to Spain and large parts of Europe and not the other way around.

The first civilization of Europe was established on the Greek island of Crete in 1700 BC and the Greeks were primarily civilized by the Black Africans of the Nile Valley. The Greeks then passed on this acquired culture to the…

COVER-UP: ‘Apartheid for Diamonds’, How the Jewelry Trade Enslaved Millions of Africans

RIELPOLITIK

Source – theantimedia.org

– Cecil Rhodes founded the world’s most powerful diamond company DeBeers, a cartel that maintains a tight monopoly over the entire industry to this day. To provide stability and slave labor for his diamond mines, Rhodes used the British military to establish apartheid states that were filled with concentration camps and widespread chaos.

South Africa and surrounding areas were the base of his operations. In the past they were even blatant enough to call a territory “Rhodesia” (named after Cecil Rhodes), although eventually the name was changed to Zimbabwe to present the illusion that it wasn’t a British colony.

After a long revolution, on April 18, 1980 the country became known as the Republic of Zimbabwe and apparently became independent, but its political system has been largely the same, and it is still very much a British colony.

The insightful mini-documentary below was filmed in the midst…

Native Americans hope their fight against Dakota Access will spur similar protests targeting pipelines across the United States and Canada

  • By Terray Sylvester | Reuters, Feb 26, 2017

CANNON BALL, N.D. – Opponents of the Dakota Access Pipeline who were pushed out of their protest camp this week have vowed to keep up efforts to stop the multibillion-dollar project and take the fight to other pipelines as well.

The Oceti Sakowin camp in Cannon Ball, North Dakota, was cleared by law enforcement on Thursday and almost 50 people, many of them , were arrested.

The number of demonstrators had dwindled from the thousands who poured into the camp starting in August to oppose the pipeline that critics say threatens…

100s of refugees on Manus to commence litigation against Australia, with global implications

Good, for them; they will succeed; in peace

UndercoverInfo

c5gwo1eumaarvvs

Hundreds of refugees are due to commence class action against illegal detention. If successful, the judgement would set a precedent and send a signal to governments that they have a legal responsibility of care to all refugees and asylum seekers. That would be bad news for both British Prime Minister Theresa May and US President Donald Trump. May recently waived further responsibility for helping unaccompanied child refugees. The Conservative government also constructed the Calais wall and organised ‘Go home’ billboards. And President Trump has also announced a controversial crackdown on refugees. The court case concerns hundreds of refugees detained by the Australian government on Manus Island, Papua New Guinea (PNG). The government has held some of them since 2012. Law firm Slater and Gordon says the case will be: “the largest trial concerning immigration detention” in legal history. And it could set a new precedent.
